Resumen: La presión arterial ambulatoria, especialmente la presión arterial nocturna, es un mejor predictor de muerte por todas las causas y muerte cardiovascular que la presión arterial clínica. Este estudio observacional analizó datos de una gran cohorte de pacientes de atención primaria y encontró que la presión arterial sistólica de 24 horas estaba más fuertemente asociada con la mortalidad que la presión arterial sistólica clínica. El ajuste de la presión arterial ambulatoria fortaleció la asociación con la mortalidad, lo que destaca la importancia de la monitorización ambulatoria de la presión arterial en la evaluación de los resultados de salud.
